We are a fun, loving, busy family who love to stay active but also enjoy down time. There is me, Craig (37) from Cork - I love being outdoors and being a bit of a silly Dad. Megan (34) originally from England who is a kind, gentle and fun Mum - always playing and reading with the boys. Leo who is 3 and is a funny, active, three year old boy! Seb is our latest addition - 6 months old a real smiley happy guy who wants to get involved in everything. We work really well as a team. Now sleeping through the night to give us bundles of energy to get through all the activities we want to do in a day.
We have a new, big and lovely home with tonnes of space for playing, running, relaxing with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space if needed. We live in Malahide, 20 mins by train to the city centre - which is a 3 min drive to the train station. We are a 4 min walk to the bus stop which also brings you into town in 25-30 mins. We are a 5 min drive to Malahide village.
Weekdays are all about getting the boys ready for the day ahead! Leo goes to nursery half time from the morning until 14.30. He loves being outdoors so is in a pre-school that caters to that. Seb is still too young for nursery so still likes his naps, bouncing in his bouncey chair, walks around Malahide castle or on the beach and playing with hsi baby chairs. When Leo gets back it's all about the books, lego, blocks, playgrounds, trampoline (in the garden), anything that keeps him active and off the TV!
We look to eat as a family (of which you would be central to!) at around 6-6.30 and then we start the night time part of the day. Leo unwinds with a tv programme while we get Seb ready. The boys might have a bath but they always get their fix of books which they adore and then we go again!
Weekends are different with us both around. Leo does classes on Sat and Sunday morning and we always try to make a trip to a farm, country house, beach, friends, family etc. We will often have friends or family around for some food and tend to keep it pretty quiet with one of us maybe going out for dinner/drinks with friends but that's more rare than we would like!
We would love our Au Pair to join our family and help us with the boys as we lead very busy work lives. Work never comes before children, so we are always there if and when is necessary, and will never ask the au pair to do anything we wouldn't do ourselves. We also recognise how hard it is for au pairs coming to Ireland and working with young children, so we will provide generous living quarters, plenty of privacy, define hours with plenty of free time to meet up with the many other au pairs in the vicinity, access to a car in the evenings, a travel card, generous pocket money, and anything else that can be deemed reasonable.
We would ask the au pair to help us get the boys ready in the morning from 7 am, drop Leo to his nursery for 8 and mind Seb throughout the day.
Then pick Leo up at 2.30 and keep the two of them entertained until one of us gets back for 5.30.
Once we are back being able to help with dinner until 6 would be greatly appreciated but not a pre-requisite.
We would also love if you could stay in the house one night a week so Megan and I can get out and spend time together, or alternatively, a couple of hours on a Sat/Sunday when the boys are asleep so we can go out for a walk or some lunch.
We expect the au pair to be able to join in on our stupid family messing, not be afraid to roll around the floor and have some fun, cracking jokes, singing songs and trying to act like a 3 year old from time to time.
We do also expect the Au Pair to be able to be firm from time to time, as the boys are in their formative years and will always try to push the boundaries to see where they can get to!
