My grandmother lives in a larger property in rural West Cork. She is in her 80's and wants to remain living in her own home. She is fiercely independent and "quite a character"! Her interests include art, knitting and crochet.
I live in Australia so I am trying to help out my Mum and Dad who live close to my grandma.
At the moment, we have organised formal carers most mornings and evenings to help with personal care (showering and dressing). Granma is such a social person, she enjoys having someone in her home with her during the day and at night. This has become too much for my Mum and she needs some support.
The tasks included in this role would be:
* helping to prepare meals
* helping with light chores/laundry (although granma does have a formal cleaner)
* driving into the local town to help with shopping tasks
* socialising with granma, having conversation and taking her out in the community (She loves a drive to the beach and is more than happy to sit in the car and admire the view)
