Au pair , general assistant wanted , rural EastClare
An active , but physically disabled Travel writer , historian ,environmentalist , Onetime teacher/lecturer , publisher etc. ,I have to have someone with me or on call at all time mainly due to my propensity for falling . He needs to be a companionable , sympathetic, willing ,open minded and honest person prepared to do a lot of travel and to live a multi-facetted life as though family , but dedicated to me as my personal assistant , for I suffered polio when six years old .My wife and I live with Two small dogs and our au pair has his own separate but adjoining apartment of sitting room , bedroom and bathroom with shower etc . ,a TV and internet facilities . He is encouraged to share life as is reasonable . We have a large garden and our house faces one of Irelandís largest lakes ( Derg ) in a welcoming rural neighbourhood , equidistant to Galway , Limerick and Ennis but with little public public transport . Our son and his family ( three kids ) live close by ,but live their own seperate lives . My main activities include travel ( I drive throughout Ireland and , to a lesser extent , Europe mostly for researching my books etc ) gardening , general research , history , cuisine and DIY . I am comparatively easy going , open minded , and enjoy Sharing debate And humour etc. I do my best to encourage my assistants to develop their own talents . My present guy has to move on due to the demands of his studies for an open university degree
he has been undertaking during the last 18 months with us . He leaves on 23 August.
Incidentally , I am a D.Litt , FRGS etc , and enjoy lifes discoveries . I look forward to weicoming my new assistant and to sharing life with him .
